About Overtime Education

Who we are

Overtime Education is the continuing professional education business of Sanford Data Analytics, an Alabama company. We make one thing: ethics CPE for CPAs that is built around the state where you hold your license.

What a course is

Each course is QAS Self Study video. Review questions appear as you watch, a final assessment closes the course, and the certificate of completion carries the fields your state board asks for.

A course pairs a shared professional-ethics core with a module on your own board's statutes and rules, so the part that differs from state to state is taught from that state's text, not a national summary.

How a course is made

  • Every statement about a law, a board rule or a professional standard is tied to a citation of its primary source.
  • State statutes and board rules are quoted word for word. Professional standards are paraphrased and cited by section.
  • Before a course is offered for credit, every citation is checked against its source. An automated reader compares each statement with the passage it cites. Anything it questions goes to a licensed CPA, who decides what must change and signs off the result, and a random sample of what it passes, drawn independently for each citation, is checked by hand by a licensed CPA to test the automated reader. Every step is kept in a record that cannot be altered without detection.
  • Before a course is offered for credit, a qualified reviewer who did not develop it reviews it in full.
  • Each course is reviewed at least once a year and revised as soon as feasible when the law it covers changes.

National Registry status

Overtime Education courses are designed to the NASBA/AICPA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs. An application to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors is pending. Courses are not offered for CPE credit until that application is approved.
