Policies

How Overtime Education handles refunds, cancellations, complaints, course updates and records.

Refund policy

A course purchase may be refunded in full, on request, at any time before the final assessment is started and within the one-year completion window. Once the final assessment has been started, or once that window has passed, the purchase is no longer refundable. To request a refund, contact [email protected]. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

Program cancellation policy

Overtime Education courses are self-study and are not scheduled; there are no session cancellations. If we withdraw a course from sale, we will tell every learner enrolled in it who has not yet completed it by email, at the address on their account, at least 14 days before the course is withdrawn. That learner may finish the version they started or receive a full refund.

Complaint resolution policy

Complaints regarding any Overtime Education course may be sent to Nick Sanford, CPA at [email protected]. Every complaint receives a written response within 3 to 5 business days.

Completion window

Each enrollment must be completed, including the final assessment, within one year of purchase. An assessment completed after that date does not earn a certificate. A lapsed enrollment is re-enrolled on request on the current version of the course, at no further charge; it is not refunded.

Course update policy

Every Overtime Education course shows its most recent publication, revision, or review date. Our courses cover professional ethics and state accountancy law and rules, which change often, so each course is reviewed by a subject matter expert at least once a year to confirm that it is current, and is revised as soon as feasible after any change to the codes, laws, rules, rulings, decisions, or interpretations it covers. Any course in a subject that changes less often is reviewed at least every two years.

Record retention policy

Overtime Education keeps the following records for each of its QAS Self Study programs for at least 8 years:

  • Records of program completion by each participant, including the CPE credits earned and the date the course was completed.
  • How CPE credit was determined. Our courses are credited by pilot test, so we keep when each pilot test was conducted, the intended participant population, how the pilot testers were selected, each tester's name, credentials and relevant experience (and, for a CPA, the state of licensure, license number and license status), a summary of the testers' actual completion times, and each tester's statement that they are independent of the course development group and were not told the expected completion time in advance.
  • The expiration date of each course: the date by which a participant must complete the final assessment, no later than one year after purchase.
  • The names and credentials of each course's authors, developers and content reviewers.
  • The results of program evaluations.
  • Each program's descriptive materials and the program materials themselves.
